You can’t really knock this one. Especially if you’re partial to a bit of top club-age action on the White Isle. Or ‘Beefa. Or whaddeveryoucrazykidscallitthesedays.

So yes, the globe’s temple of dance music, Space Ibiza (voted, in fact, number one club in the world) is releasing an app. Yes, an app. Today, June 29 and beyond. For free. Here’s how it works:

• It’s a digital download store selling the club’s most popular tracks, updated each and every morning – right until the closing parties

• The App will monitor the most popular tweeted, facebooked and talked about tracks from the club’s social media pages to provide a unique Space chart – giving you direct access to the club’s biggest summer anthems

• You’ll also be about to find out who’s playing when, buy tickets to see them play, and download a tailored playlist to get you in the mood, sent directly to your phone

• As the season gets into full swing, there will also be added DJ Profiles, PLUS an Ibiza guide, giving you insider tips from some of the world’s biggest DJs – making this an essential item for any one heading to Ibiza this summer.

‘Outta-Space’ will be available free from Apple’s app store, the Space Ibiza website and the android market place along with the magazine’s website, from TODAY, June 29.

PLUS Buy tickets for Armin Van Buuren’s new Wednesday night residency, ‘Be,’ through the App and receive a very special playlist – free of charge.

It’s proving to be a busy old year for our favourite superstar DJ. We’ve already told you about his landmark anniversary at Space this summer (The Revolution – 10 Years at Space kicks off July 5th) but now, on top of that, he’s confirmed he’ll be releasing a brand new artist album – All Roads Lead to the Dancefloor, over three different phases, starting on August 1.

Recorded over the last year in Carl’s Melbourne studio the new album showcases a range of styles including Vocal House, Dubstep, Drum & Bass, Latin and of course Techno. “This album is aimed purely at the dancefloor,” says Carl. “Every track should be a winner too as I’ve been road-testing and remixing them to make sure they really do work.”

Unbelievably it’s been nearly 6 years since his last album, so this is a pretty big deal, especially as Carl’s chosen to present it on never-before-seen USB technology – offering far more than a conventional album. “You pay the one price for the one product,” explains Carl. “And the USB will not only give you the album, but it’ll also be your key to everything I do in the next 12 months or so.”

Confused? Intrigued? Here’s how it works:

The USB interface is essentially a website home page but most features will not require it to be connected to the web, making it usable on the train, in flight, in remote locations etc. Buyers will be able to stream, as well as download the album & remixes, plus they’ll have access to the entire Intec Digital catalogue, access to Carl’s latest four Global radio shows, exclusive videos & Carl Cox news and more – and all for just £20.

With this new USB interface new content can be added to the USB sticks, even after they have been purchased – a user simply plugs in, the USB will connect automatically to its CMS location and update within seconds. So, being able to add content at any stage down the USB’s life makes it an album that essentially lives on – its life is extended through new exciting content that people will want to plug in again for. These content additions are set to include a vast range of continually added features including access to additional album remixes, exclusive sets recorded from Space Ibiza, video interviews & behind the scenes video footage from Carl on tour, and what really stands out – access to LIVE (Realtime) video streams from Carl’s gigs. Intec have also worked along side Pioneer on this project, giving the budding DJ an insight into the future of DJing with USB sticks – videos on the stick will include tutorial, tips & tricks with Carl, behind the scenes at a sound check, Pioneer Rekordbox tutorial, plus more.

As Carl explains: “I’m asking people to buy the USB, and I’m promising that with the singles, the videos, the actual album, plus all the extras – they won’t be disappointed. I didn’t want to just put it online and let that be that. I’ve spent too long on it, and it’s too important to me to be degraded that way. I wanted to do something special with this release, something really forward thinking, and I think we’ve achieved it.”

The campaign will see the music behind ‘All Roads lead to the Dancefloor’ released along side its many extras over three separate phases:

Phase 1

The USB will be available from August 1st following the first single release, ‘Family Guy,’ downloadable from July 4th – a 10-minute slice of classic techno. Family Guy comes with massive remixes from Layo & Bushwacka! & Jon Rundell, which will be available on the USB.

On August 1st, fans can enjoy the first taster of the album, with 12 brand new tracks becoming available. This includes cuts that will be on the final album, along with B-sides and exclusives.

Phase 2

On September 26th owners of the USB will receive the second single, a vocal dub step mix of a track called ‘Nexus’ complete with remixes and video followed by the final and complete album on October 17th.

October 31st the third single, ‘Chemistry’ (plus remixes) will be released, along with another video.

Phase 3

Throughout the end of this year on through to next, the USB will be updated with ongoing LIVE footage of Carl & his band touring. Buyers will be able to follow Carl at rehearsals, on the road and on stage as the album gets performed live to thousands across 5 cities in Australia – the first ever live Carl Cox tour. “We’ve already trialled it a couple of times here in Melbourne and I’m pleased to say it worked,” says Carl. “These shows will be a mix of both DJing and performing, which will be a challenge. But I’ve never taken the easy option. I take pride in that.”

The first single, Family Guy is out July 4, with the USB and album taster following on August 1.

Pre-Orders available from Intec’s own site, then distributed via Amazon, Play and directly in the clubs

Yikes. This one’ll get you going for the weekend. On June 19th Ministry of Sound/Level Recordings release a birrova whopper: ‘Badman Riddim (Jump)’ – a monster reworking of Dutch DJ/producer Vato Gonzalez’s 2010 instrumental, with vocals from UK urban heavyweights Foreign Beggars.

It has already received national radio’s seal of approval too – with playlists on Radio 1, 1Xtra and Capital, as well as early support from Radio 1’s Rob Da Bank, Trevor Nelson, Scott Mills, Mistajam & Judge Jules.

Vato Gonzalez is one of the world’s top emerging DJ talents. Having already built a massively successful label, event and genre, known as ‘Dirty House,’ Vato’s original ‘Badman Riddim’ was one of the biggest instrumentals of last year, winning over the likes of Annie Mac, Zane Lowe, Annie Nightingale, Pete Tong, MistaJam and Toddla T, as well as notching up over 2 million views on YouTube.

Foreign Beggars are the critically acclaimed rap duo from London, winners of ‘Best New Act’ at the 2004 UK Hip Hop awards, and Best Group at the 2005’s Lyric Pad Hip Hop Awards. They’ve supported the likes of The Prodigy, Snoop Dogg, Amy Winehouse, Public Enemy, Ian Brown and De La Soul and were nominated for Best European Hip Hop Act at the 2010 Urban Music Awards, alongside Roots Manuva, Professor Green and Tinie Tempah.

If you like things a little longer, remixes include a HUGE D&B remix from label boss DJ Friction, extended & dub edits, a heavy bass driven re-rub from acclaimed underground duo TruFix & Thunderskank and a high-tempo electro mix from Static Shokx.

Phew! we’re exhausted now.

She’s a bit of a long-term sweetheart round these parts and we’re pleased to say that performer, artist and all round house-head, the delectable Miss O, is back with the first of a clutch of big singles – ‘Come Undone’, released on May 23.

Co-written and recorded with Swedish prodigy John Dahlback and Australian electro blokey Tommy Trash (with remixes by Italian Stefano Noferini) it’s an internationally-produced peak-time party anthem with –perhaps appropriately for its lyrical content – a catchier-than-crabs synth riff. Listen here.

So – *blushes* – it’s about what, Ms Obernik?

“A science lesson in the art of body fusion HA HA HA!” she laughs. “Come on, it’s actually more or less about a guilt-free zipless-fuck. I mean the lyrics are: I don’t know bout you but when it’s one on one, easy as two by two, do and it shall be done…come on flip my little switch like electricity…”

Gulp.

Since her last Radio 1 A-listed Top 30 hit, the addictive Baditude in late 2009 (with Spoon & Harris) if you’re wondering why you haven’t seen the delectable Ms O on UK line-ups too much, the reason can be summed up in one simple word: Russia.

“I’ve been stuck out there!” she laughs. “It’s been such an education. I did a track called ‘Stereo Flo’ which Scott Mills and Tong were playing but never released here – but in Russia it was Top 20 for 35 weeks. We had huge radio support with around a million radio plays! It did really well in France as well so my world has been filled with solo shows. Then there was Good Vibes in Australia and shows in Brazil. But I do also want to try to focus on matters closer to home.”

And home she is – well, in between those Russian trips, of course – and Sam would like to take this opportunity to announce her plans for this year. Just a few releases to look for include collaborations with Lee Cabrera, Richard Dinsdale & Hook ‘n’ Sling (the sun-kissed ‘Edge of the Earth’ which is #1 on Beatport), Redroche (the wonderful Chemically Yours), Analogue People In A Digital World, EDX and Stretch and Vern – not to mention other works-in-progress and fingers in pies to be confirmed. Watch this space.

But don’t try to pigeonhole the lady O because she’ll only come back bolder and brighter. “By definition, you can’t,” she says with a smile. “I’m a bit of a magpie, but I want to be a bit more comprehensive about what I’m doing. I have so many projects in 2011 near completion that I really want people to hear them. So here I am.” And don’t mess: she means it.
